Call for Applications


We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Fungal Diagnostics Awards, to be presented during FungalDx26, December 2–4, 2026, in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

The Fungal Diagnostics Awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the diagnosis of fungal infections and improving the quality, accuracy, accessibility, or clinical application of fungal diagnostic testing for humans and animals worldwide.


Two 'Fungal Diagnostics Awards' will be presented:

1. Laboratory Diagnostics

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in basic science or laboratory-based fungal diagnostics.

2. Clinical Diagnostics

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the patient care setting and clinical application and interpretation of fungal diagnostics.

Selection Criteria:

Applications will be evaluated by the FungalDx Awards Committee based on the following areas:

1. Excellence and Achievement

2. Innovation

3. Impact

4. Leadership and Professional Contribution

5. Education and Mentorship

6. Contribution to the Field

The committee will consider the overall body of work and demonstrated impact rather than relying solely on publication numbers, academic titles, or career seniority.


Who Can Apply?

Applications are welcome from professionals involved in fungal diagnostics from any country or region, including:

• Clinical microbiologists

• Medical mycologists

• Laboratory scientists and technologists

• Laboratory directors

• Physicians and infectious disease specialists

• Pathologists

• Researchers and academic scientists

• Industry professionals

• Other professionals whose work has made a significant contribution to fungal diagnostics


Application Materials

Self-applications and nominations by colleagues are both accepted.

Applicants or nominators should submit the following to isham@fungaldx.com from October 1–31:

1.Curriculum vitae and brief professional biography (up to 3 pages)

2.Statement of contribution (up to 500 words) describing the candidate's major contributions to fungal diagnostics and how they meet the award criteria

3.Two letters of support from colleagues familiar with the candidate's work.


Applications will be reviewed by the FungalDx Awards Committee, and award recipients will be recognized during FungalDx26. The award recipient will receive a certificate, free registration to attend the FungalDx26 conference in person, and a hard copy of the Atlas of Clinical Fungi.



We invite colleagues from around the world to apply or nominate individuals for recognition of outstanding contributions to the advancement of fungal diagnostics.
